This Privacy Policy explains how Builders and Backers Studio LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business in Virginia (“Builders + Backers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our AI-powered entrepreneurial platform at [ai.buildersandbackers.com] (the “Platform”).
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
When you use the Platform, we collect information in several ways. This includes the information you provide when creating an account (such as your name, email address, and password), billing information needed to process subscriptions (handled securely by our payment processor, Stripe), and any business ideas, concepts, inventions, experiments, raw inputs, prompts, conversations, or other content you choose to input into the Platform. As between you and Builders + Backers, you retain ownership of your ideas, concepts, inventions, and other intellectual property rights in content you own (“User IP”). Builders + Backers may collect and use the raw inputs, prompts, conversations, interaction history, activity information, and related records generated through your use of the Platform (“Platform Data”) under a working license to operate, maintain, secure, analyze, and improve the Platform and related services.
We also collect information automatically through your use of the Platform. This may include usage data such as log files, device identifiers, and analytics that help us understand how the Platform is used. In addition, we use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality and analyze performance.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve the Platform. This includes providing AI-driven guidance, enabling access to human mentors, processing payments, and responding to support requests. We also use your information, including Platform Data, to develop new features, train and improve Builders + Backers’ own AI models, enhance the accuracy of our AI models, and personalize your experience.
Platform Data used internally to train and improve Builders + Backers’ own AI models may not be de-identified beforehand. At this time, there is no opt-out from Builders + Backers’ internal use of Platform Data to train and improve its own AI models.
Our use of Platform Data is intended to improve Builders + Backers; we take our obligation to protect your ideas seriously. We do not use Platform Data to train third-party large language models or to develop competing products, businesses, or ventures. We do not use your specific ideas to build products or services for other uses or third parties.
Investment and funding opportunities. We may use information you provide through the Platform, including Platform Data and information about your business, your progress, and your activity on the Platform, to identify and evaluate you or your business as a potential candidate for investment, funding, or other opportunities offered by Builders + Backers or investment funds, vehicles, or entities managed by or affiliated with Builders + Backers. We may share such information with those entities solely for purposes of evaluating or making a potential investment, providing funding, or providing such an opportunity. Your use of the Platform does not guarantee that you or your business will be considered for, offered, or receive any investment, funding, or other opportunity.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share information in limited ways to provide and improve the Platform. For example, we share payment details with Stripe in order to process subscription fees, and we may share certain inputs with mentors and advisors who support you in your entrepreneurial journey. We also work with service providers who assist with hosting, analytics, and customer support, and we may share information with research partners as described in this Privacy Policy.
Sponsored access. Some users may receive access to the Platform through a seat, program, grant, cohort, or subscription funded or supported by an employer, university, government agency, foundation, accelerator, or other sponsor (each, a “Sponsoring Organization”). If your access is sponsored, we may share summary-level information with the Sponsoring Organization, such as participation, engagement, progress, milestones, completion status, and platform-generated activity signals. Unless you separately authorize it, Sponsoring Organizations do not receive your raw conversations, prompts, AI interaction transcripts, or other detailed Platform Data reflecting the substance of your exchanges with the Platform. Sponsored access does not change ownership of your User IP, and the Sponsoring Organization does not receive any rights in your idea solely because it sponsored or supported your access. At this time, there is no opt-out from sponsor reporting for users who receive sponsored access.
On rare occasions, we may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Builders + Backers, our users, or others.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove personal identifiers from your records, though we may retain Platform Data as reasonably necessary to continue improving our AI systems, maintain records of prior use, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Accounts that remain inactive for five years will be deleted automatically.
You may also request deletion of your information, including associated Platform Data, by contacting us directly.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your information, and the right to restrict or object to certain forms of processing. 6. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard your information. While we work hard to protect your data, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we will notify users by email or through a notice on the Platform at least thirty (30) days before the new policy takes effect.
